<\/a>Santa has come and gone this December but we came to the White Oak Music Hall hoping to get a late Christmas present in the way of Kristine Flaherty aka K. Flay this Friday night, December 29th. Going into the evening the only exposure I had to this young lady was via the internet and I was intrigued by her and what her music might sound like on the White Oak stage. I was equally curious about what kind of following she might have and how might they react to her and her music this cold winter night in H town.<\/p>\nI have answers and many other comments but first let me mention that we arrived very early, after an hour drive, to get bad news that turned into really good news. We thought we were told the show would start at 8 pm but at 6:45pm we found out while retrieving out tickets that doors didn\u2019t open until 8pm with the opener Sabino not going on until 9 pm. We asked ourselves \u2019What do we do for the next couple hours or so? And after a very few minutes we concluded that there was only one logical thing to do\u2026drive to Navigation Blvd and have dinner at the Original Ninfa\u2019s. Although it was packed, as you would expect on a Friday night, we walked into the bar area and immediately found a table for two. Whoever gave us the incorrect information about show times, THANK YOU! As it turns out it had been way too long since we had been there and that was our BAD, because it was so so GOOD!<\/p>\n
So on with the show\u2026<\/p>\n

<\/a>Sabino took the stage at 9 pm sharp and he and his three bandmates were ready to warm up the crowd of 500 plus (my guess) and did so very nicely. This Guadalajara, Mexico born artist sang his songs in Spanish with an occasional word in English. The fact that most in the room didn\u2019t understand his words, for sure me included, didn\u2019t seem to matter since his rhythm grabbed the attention of all those standing in front of him and he had them moving to his beat, song after song. I was impressed and must add that my wife and I both enjoyed his sound and his vibe. He entertained us\u2026even with us pretty much clueless on what he was singing.<\/p>\n

<\/a>And as good as he was, he just didn\u2019t hold a Christmas candle to K. Flay. At 10:10pm, way late for this boy, K. hit the stage and within seconds captivated the audience\u2026oh yes, including me. This woman is almost indescribable but I will try. She is beyond HIGH ENERGY. She is Turbo-charged. I never saw her slow down until she strapped on her guitar three or four songs into her set. She moved around the stage like she had been training for a \u2018Most Fit Woman in The World\u2019 trophy and based on her moves there is no doubt she would have won. Hell, she might have been 1 through 11 in the Top Ten! I got tired just watching her moves.![\"\"](\"http:\/\/houstonmusicreview.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/dwc-photography-36-300x240.jpg\")
<\/a>Let me be clear that I was blown away by this entertainer. She is special and way beyond what I had thought she might be as a performer. Besides her dynamic movement her lyrics are uniquely insightful\u2026somehow both revealing and mysterious at the same time. I will hopefully see her again and I hope that happens way sooner than later. Good grief, the girl has it\u2026THE WOW FACTOR TIMES INFINITY!
