\"121\"<\/a> Music is our way to escape the realities of living in the fourth largest city in the greatest country on earth. Even in retirement Rose and I do not like wasting our time on things just to say we “did” something. \u00a0A fine example of this is visiting the cozy confines of McGonigels Mucky Duck and engaging in acoustic bliss with bands like the South Austin Moonlighters. \u00a0We have crossed paths before, but it had been awhile for our busy schedules to match. \u00a0And match they did indeed!<\/div>\n

SAM is Phil Hurley on electric guitar and a “gizmo” he brought along this night, Phil Bass on smooth as silk skins, Chris Beall on bookend electric matching Hurley’s efforts, and the man in the middle keeping this machine purrin’ Lonnie Trevino on bass! They are celebrating six years together already and just seem to be getting better. As usual these hard working individuals always bring their “A” game and busted the place up off the bat with “Stars at Night”. \u00a0I love to use the phrase “feel good band” with this squad because no matter what you are in the mood for you will get it like the old times Motown feel of “Can’t Live Without You ” and “To Love Somebody” where I feel like it is coming out of my AM transistor radio! \u00a0Or Hurley saying it his “his” job to bring on the rock on yet to be released jammer “New Jean Queen” and “Send Me Down to Hell”.<\/div>\n

\"038\"<\/a>The versitality is awesome because all four gents sing lead. \u00a0Bass on “29 Miles” is always a shining moment. \u00a0Other gems included boogie woogie Elvis induced rocker “Friday Night”, fluffy “Travel Light”, “I’ll Be Coming Home”, “Red Light Green Light Main Street”, and “Machine Gun Kelly” where Hurley showed the supreme confidence to deliver crowd satisfaction! \u00a0Beall has really settled in and is becoming a major contributor to this already strong unit. \u00a0Trevino’s enthusiasm as the straw stirring the drink keeps this invasion of fun moving all night! \u00a0“Mississippi River” off their latest album, \u00a0“Ghost of a Small Town”, flat out smokes.<\/div>\n

It is puzzling to me how this quality group of talented musicians does not play to SRO crowds? \u00a0Bang for your buck is what they bring to the table and then some. \u00a0 MARK down May 26 + June 13 where they will be blowing down Cottonwood in Houston! \u00a0They make regular stops at this fine venue, too so next time do yourself a favor and check them out………They will welcome you big time!<\/div>\n
