\"\"<\/a>For some time now I have wanted to get a closer look at The White Oak Music Hall(s) and outdoor amphitheater. This venue has existed on the northern perimeter of Downtown Houston for just over three years. Before this past Friday night I just haven\u2019t found the occasion to go.\u00a0 Somehow the stars finally aligned and we made the trek to 2915 N Main Street to listen to a band called Wilderado (aka Bird Dog).<\/p>\n

This Indie Rock group originated in Tulsa, OK and the guys still make their home in the Sooner state.\u00a0\u00a0 On this night they were opening for Mt Joy, a five piece group that started in Philly and now calls Los Angeles home.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d be lying if I told you I had heard of either until very recently. I\u2019m sure that having them come up on my radar screen has nicely expanded my musical boundaries.<\/p>\n

Over the span of their 30 minute show, I was able to snap a few images, mainly of lead singer Max Rainer, that you can check out in our \u2018photo gallery\u2019.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The three guys that accompanied Max on stage were Justin Kila on drums, Tyler Wimpee on guitar and Colton Dearing on bass. I sincerely liked all nine songs they played. They started with You Don\u2019t Love Me and ended with Siren, which had fans in attendance clapping to the beat.\u00a0 Rubble to Rubble has many in the audience singing along.\u00a0 Morning Light also seemed to get a lot of attention by the \u2018at capacity\u2019 audience of nearly a thousand, all in position before Wilderado played their first note.\u00a0 For me they all sounded good yet the up tempo tunes (like their song Wheat) got me way more fired up. I loved the band\u2019s vibe during those songs as they randomly hopped around in a fun sort of cadence that appeared spontaneous and unrehearsed.\u00a0 It was contagious and made me want to do the same!<\/p>\n

I hope I get to see them again and focus more on their lyrics next time. In the meantime, I\u2019m going to stay happy that I went to see these guys\u2026 and a little sad that I wasn\u2019t able to stick around for Mt Joy.\u00a0 Hope to catch them both down the road.<\/p>\n

Before I close I\u2019d like to commend the creators of the White Oak live music complex. Big thanks for them doing their part in keeping live music available to Houstonians. We loved the location, the indoor facility was nice (and clean) and the sound pretty good. (Thinking it would have sounded better if we hadn\u2019t been in the very back under the canopy)\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t crazy about paying $20 for parking but really, if it helps the economics of keeping a live music venue viable, then \u2018bring it on\u2019!<\/p>\n

Until next time go see some live music so we have it available in abundance for generations to come.<\/p>\n
