The night was started with a group called Ours, weren’t bad musically but the vocalist wasn’t too great to me, he had too much of a whiney voice that just didn’t give much feel to their music. They had kind of an Isis type sound very melodic that build up to more of a gothic rock / noise rock sound. About the only time their set got interesting was after a song the vocalist said something about someone throwing a quarter at him on stage, the very next song he got hit again and proceeded to jump off the stage in order to try to fight the person that threw it…ahhh kids these days.

After all that excitement of Ours we had a little bit of a wait since the opener got on stage late took the stage crew a little longer than planned to get ready. Around 9:30 the lights went out and as the fog and stage lights came up, the curtain in front of the stage came down as Manson came out to fans opening with ‘Cruci Fiction in Space’ followed quickly by ‘Irresponsible Hate Anthem’. Many of his old favorites such as “Sweet Dreams”, “Disposable Teens” and “Antichrist Superstar” as well as many off his new album ‘Eat Me Drink Me’ that included “Heart Shaped Glasses”, “If I was Your Vampire” and “Putting Holes in Happiness”

Now I know there are many who don’t like Manson but I will always say this, He puts on one of the best live shows I have ever seen. Manson will come out and give you his all till there’s nothing left and he and the band are exhausted. Manson’s shows have always had some great theatrics to them using lots of lights and various props on stage. Manson once again had his cat walk stage going in to the crowd of the Verizon as he gave the fans an up close performance on many songs.

One of the things that really amped this tour from his last few was the fact the ex bassist Twiggy was coming along for the ride this time around. While the two had collaborated on several of the bands past albums the two parted ways because of creative differences a few years back. But with all the hype put on Twiggy being back in the band, it was somewhat of a letdown, the two didn’t interact with other much on stage like in the old days, and for the most part Twiggy just walked around on stage.  The rest of the band for the most part does what Manson bands have always done play and stay out of his way

While I have really liked some of his past works, the new album Eat Me Drink Me has some good tracks but some that tend to head more to the pop side of rock and it just doesn’t seem to fit Manson style, it’s a lot like his attempt at the whole glam rock thing he tried on Mechanic Animals album, which didn’t last long. All in all I thought the show was great and have always been a Manson fan in some way or another so needless to say I always look forward to seeing him live…
