All ya do now is download a mppp\u2026sooommmeeeeethinn\u2026 Ohhh, there\u2019s just no radio anymore!! I\u2019m smiling and giving a nod because I remember too\u2026those incredibly well modulated FM radio hosts that were nothing but wayyy tooo cool and played Traffic, The Stones, Hendrix, Clapton, Fleetwood Mac .. all in stereo\u2026.and played the long versions! All over the country FM Radio rose with the revolution and kept our heads fed with the coolest records from London to San Francisco.<\/p>\n

Hmmmm.. Dave Mason.. didn\u2019t he have a little band called Traffic? I think he played guitar on Hendrix\u2019s version of All Along the Watchtower too. He played on The Stones\u2019 Beggars Banquet and appeared on George Harrison\u2019s All Things Must Pass. He toured with Delaney and Bonnie & Friends along with Clapton and George Harrison. In the mid-90\u2019s he toured and recorded with Fleetwood Mac contributing 2 titles to 1995\u2019s \u2018Time\u2019 album.<\/p>\n

Dosey Doe in The Woodlands just keeps doing it week in and week out. The venue is an old barn they brought from Kentucky and rebuilt on sight so it has a nice \u2018wooden\u2019 sound. Most shows will include a fabulous dinner in the ticket price and you\u2019ll get great service from some of the most polite wait staff around. I\u2019ve asked Steve where he finds all this great music, but he just grins and laughs and doesn\u2019t say a word.<\/p>\n

Mason was obviously completely on and feeling great that night. His band was amazingly tight and dead on with every kick. Dave on guitar & vocals led Alvino Bennet on drums, Johnne Sambataro on guitars, Tony Patler on keys and Gerald Johnson on bass through more than an hour and a half of some of the best rock n roll ever produced. Legendary songs like \u2018Only You Know And I Know\u2019 and \u2018Shouldn\u2019t Have Took More Than You Gave\u2019 started the night and got the party started. Wasn\u2019t long before 40,000 Headmen played All Along The Watchtower either. I honestly can\u2019t remember which song it was except that it was a new one, but Dave took a long soulful guitar solo that seemed to bend every note around the seasonings of Traffic, Hendrix, Clapton and Harrison and countless other guitars and sold out houses through his long career. Imagine\u2026.50 years at the top of his field\u2026who hasn\u2019t he played with?<\/p>\n

I thought the roof was going to come off the place when Dave grinned and kicked off Dear Mr. Fantasy. Everybody was up and moving by then and singing along with the title track of Traffic\u2019s 1967 debut album. Wow\u2026.\u201967? Good music is just good music ain\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

All good things must come to an end and finally Dave had to say goodnight..and did so to an incredibly enthusiastic standing ovation. Noone was going to leave without an encore from Mason..and we all knew what it HAD to be. Now..if you left before the end (and I<\/p>\n

know some of you did..) you missed what had to be the finest moment of the whole evening when he played Feelin\u2019 Alright. Feelin Alright comes from Traffic\u2019s 3rd<\/sup> album released in 1968 and it\u2019s just one of those hallmark songs that\u2019ll last forever\u2026or so we hope. By the way, if you check Mason\u2019s Facebook you\u2019ll see he\u2019s excited about his new album\u2026so look for that soon.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll tell you right now, this was one of the best shows I have ever seen in any venue anywhere. This has to be in my personal top 10. Mason will be back and I\u2019ll be there when he comes.
