\"Image\"Being a fan of The Cure for what has seemed like my whole life who has never had the opportunity to see them live, I was unsure what to expect when they came into Houston. I was half expecting to have a stage filled with whimsical decorations and oddities all around, but what I got was quiet different…it was a no frills rock show.<\/p>\n

Taking the stage without saying a word the band went right into Out of This World<\/em>.\u00a0 I must say for someone who has been at this game since 1976, Robert Smith looked and sounded AMAZING.\u00a0 With a quick “Hello Houston!” he went right into Want. This set the pattern for a 25 song set, little talk and all music.<\/p>\n

The band played a great mix of old songs and new, going back as far as the Pornography<\/strong> album with One Hundred Years<\/em> and hitting on the more popular songs off albums such as Kiss Me<\/strong> with Just like Heaven<\/em> and HOT, HOT, HOT<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Of course, their most popular album, Disintegration<\/strong>, was well represented with songs like Lullaby<\/em>, Pictures of You<\/em> and Robert’s one time wedding gift to his wife turned top 10 hit Love Song<\/em> they even played a few new songs, A Boy I Never Knew<\/em>, Only One<\/em> and my new favorite Sleep When I’m Dead<\/em>, which are all on the album they have coming out September 13th called 13<\/strong>. Let me be the first to say, if what we heard last night in Houston was any indication of the new album, they’ve still got it!<\/p>\n

So the night was really a journey from 1982 to today.\u00a0 For a die hard Cure fan like myself…it was a once in a lifetime moment. Last night was an event that I had built up in my mind for YEARS and I couldn’t have imagined it any better.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
