<\/a>A funny thing happened in a good way at the usually singer\/songwriter dominated McGonigel\u2019s Mucky Duck recently.\u00a0 An all female punk rock blues fused explosion hit the stage in the form of Austin\u2019s The Bluebonnets!\u00a0 Talk about a change of pace for this storied\u00a0 venue and the ole girl if you will handled it with ease.\u00a0 HMR has been on this joint forever and their sound quality is always top notch.\u00a0 Kathy Valentine, formally of the GoGo\u2019s fame, put this project back together in 2007 and it is steaming hot to behold live.\u00a0 This ain\u2019t no fluffy pop fizz stuff either kids.\u00a0 Backed by Eve Monsees on blasting electric guitar,\u00a0 killer front lady Dominique Davalos on bass, Kristy McInnis slammin\u2019 the drums and of course KV on animated electric guitar make for a non-stop thrill ride that ya just can\u2019t get off!\u00a0\u00a0 Their sound has been dubbed \u201cglamorous garage rock\u201d and I think it fits to a tee.<\/p>\nBacking their 2014 release, \u201cPlay It Loud\u201d, \u00a0the night was minus of any ballads for sure. Davalos favors actress Faye Dunaway to me and her get up of hiking boots and mini-skirt kind of set the tone of the punk in your face style all night.\u00a0 Girl has some talented pipes and she made sure everybody got their moments to shine and then some.\u00a0 The harmonies were tight and tough\u00a0 all evening with more rock star poses than you could count adding to the unreal energy spilling off the stage.\u00a0 The ladies seemed impressed by the warm response from the crowd and said Houston has been very kind to them\u00a0 Under The Volcano and the Continental Club have been recent stops for them in H-Town, but the sound quality this night blew those other joints away with crisp yet not too loud vibes.<\/p>\n
