I met several people that traveled a long way to see this concert. I was impressed when I spoke with people from Beaumont who braved the downpours on their drive to Houston. I was flabbergasted when I met some young ladies who drove in from San Antonio and had to drive back after the show to be in a wedding the next day.

It is always great to see young faces in the crowd. This crowd had plenty of young faces & old rockers like myself.

They opened up with “Sick for the Cure,” an old Cinderella song that pulled the crowd in closer, “Ain’t that a Bitch” & “A Different Light”, a mellow ballad, followed. An acoustical version of “Shake Me” really got the crowd going.

They stayed with acoustics and played “Ask Me Yesterday” & “The Flower Song,” which was the first single released from “The Way Life Goes”.

“One For Rock and Roll” is an old Cinderella song but not one of my favorites. “Solid Ground” is the best song on the album and kicks ass from the start.

“Cold Day In Hell” has great harmonica play & bluesy guitar riffs. Tom’s vocals really stand out on this song and sounded great live.

“Don’t Know What You Got (Til It’s Gone)” is one of my favorite Cinderella Songs and on this night, Tom did not disappoint delivering as only Tom Keifer can.

The next two songs were Cinderella songs, as well, “Coming Home”, from the “Long Cold Winter” album & “Shelter Me”. They covered an old Beatles track “With A Little Help From My Friends” for an encore which was followed by the classic “Gypsy Road”.

“The Way Life Goes” is Tom Keifer’s debut solo album and this was his first solo tour. Tom has battled with a partial paralysis of his left vocal cord since the early 90’s. He has had several surgeries and was told by doctors that he would never sing again. He has had to learn how to sing all over again. When you buy the album, you will find that the vocals sound like the classic Tom Keifer bluesy vocals of old.

“The Way Life Goes” is a soulful and bluesy album the delivers classic rock hits. The album is masterfully produced and includes a great harmonica and saxophone on some songs. Tom Keifer has always been a great song writer, guitarists, vocalists & performer. While there have been many long cold winters since we’ve heard new music from Tom Keifer, “The Way Life Goes” is clearly worth the wait.

Written by Ken Simmons May 10, 2013 at 10:00 PM It was a stormy Friday night in Houston, but that didn’t stop anyone from enjoying a great performance from Cinderella frontman, Tom Keifer.
