{"id":55,"date":"2015-01-16T20:00:49","date_gmt":"2015-01-16T20:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/216.71.127.204\/wordpress\/?p=55"},"modified":"2015-09-25T16:21:41","modified_gmt":"2015-09-25T16:21:41","slug":"uncle-lucius-dosey-doe-woodlands-tx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/houstonmusicreview.com\/wordpress\/2015\/01\/16\/uncle-lucius-dosey-doe-woodlands-tx\/","title":{"rendered":"Uncle Lucius &#8211; Dosey Doe &#8211; Woodlands, TX"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Written by Eddie Ferranti<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.houstonmusicreview.com\/mambo\/images\/stories\/2015concert\/011615-UncleLucious1.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"207\" height=\"300\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"6\" \/>Releasing stress today seems like a non-stop job when working in the corporate rat race called Houston,Tx.\u00a0 Our main way to squeeze it out of our lives is seeing live music, even if we have to go\u00a060+ miles to do it on a rush hour Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Having a double slam dunk of the band, Uncle Lucius, and the venue, Dosey Doe Music Cafe, had a hell of a lot to do with it\u00a0also my friends.\u00a0 No way you can label this 5 piece out of Austin other than fire\u00a0hot bluesey\u00a0rock &#8216;n roll!\u00a0 Dudes filled\u00a0the DDMC to the SRO brim and lead singer Kevin Galloway came growlin&#8217; out of the gate with a pulverizing &#8220;Pocket Full of Misery&#8221; !<\/p>\n<p>The sweet acoustics and sound levels showcased the awesome talents of every member of this squad.\u00a0 Galloway stirs the drink here, but delegates\u00a0well getting\u00a0out of the way to let madman electric guitar wiz Mike Carpenter mash and Jonny Grossman go haywire on the keys producing an\u00a0infectious.diverse sound that locks you in and takes you away.\u00a0 Josh Greco&#8217;s beyond animated drum work coupled with bottom bad to bone bass of Nigel Frye round out a band that has 4 singers ta boot.<\/p>\n<p>Being Baby Boomer hippeis at heart, we really dig\u00a0the crescendo 60&#8217;s type build up to their songs that\u00a0make them sound like mini-anthems of the psychedelic variety.\u00a0 Crisp strong delivery of Galloway and the constant stretching of tunes makes their live performance very neato.\u00a0This was my fourth time seeing these cats and they keep pumping out so many new songs it is hard to recognize them!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.houstonmusicreview.com\/mambo\/images\/stories\/2015concert\/011615-UncleLucious2.jpg\" alt=\"Image\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"6\" \/>Ones I did were &#8220;Gone in No Time&#8221;, smokin&#8217; &#8220;Gulf Coast Gypsies&#8221;, stalwart cool\u00a0hit &#8220;Keep Wolves Away&#8221;, &#8220;Fire on the Rooftop&#8221;\u00a0and &#8220;Take Me Away&#8221; which they did all night long!\u00a0\u00a0 Resonating and &#8220;hearable&#8221; lyrics are another redeeming quality of this band.\u00a0 What a concept huh?\u00a0 Allman Brothers, Gov&#8217;t Mule, vintage Crazy Horse\u00a0and even Dire Straits tossed into a blender can maybe give ya an idea of this energetic group in a live setting.\u00a0In the killer words of the band themselves: &#8220;We pride our live show as a sacred and energetic experience, with a belief that this is still the truest form of communication with our fans&#8221;\u00a0 \u00a0Amen to that.<\/p>\n<p>They have a beyond loyal following and are promising a new album in May.\u00a0 The evening jammed so smoothly that I could not believe it was time for thee\u00a0encore already which consisted of five songs including goosebumpers &#8220;Someday Is A Far Cry&#8221; and &#8220;Liquor Store&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0What a\u00a0boogie jamboree night this was\u00a0havin&#8217; fun with this\u00a0hard workin&#8217; and\u00a0humble band from Austin.<\/p>\n<p>GOT them on our must see list always and have them marked down already\u00a0on the bill with\u00a0Ray Wylie Hubbard at the historic Crighton Theater in Conroe 6\/6\/15&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.Suppot live music anywhere it is played!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Written by Eddie Ferranti Releasing stress today seems like a non-stop job when working in the corporate rat race called Houston,Tx.\u00a0 Our main way to squeeze it out of our lives is seeing live music, even if we have to go\u00a060+ miles to do it on a rush hour Friday night.
