The event drew me mainly because I loved LZ, but also to see what kind of crowd dug this sort of thing.

To my pleasant surprise, the make-up of the packed house audience was mainly 21-35 year olds jammin’ out big time. Also there were many parents there with their younger siblings witnessing the feel that Led Zeppelin IS. To call this band a tribute band is something that must be done, but it doesn’t quite apply. These gents made you feel like the real band would of handled a gig with deeper cuts and not just parading out all the classic rock radio hits one after another. It made the show more authenic for sure.

Lead singer Bruce Lamont had the crowd in the palm of his hand all night with an eerily spot on imitation of Robert Plant. Freaky stuff indeed. Paul Kamp had the Jimmy Page character nailed, too all the way down to the double necked Gibson during a stirring ‘Stairway to Heaven’. He was smooth all night and even played his guitar using a violin bow!

Chris Klien held down the bass (and mandolin on a few tunes) while drummer Ian “Gonzo” Lee tore the place down all evening with his breaking sticks rendition of the bombastic drummer even doing a 10 minute drum solo on ‘Moby Dick’. Sweet stuff.

The whole evening was a very nice trip back in time that had me not only remembering how killer the real Zep was (I saw them twice), but thinking of my friends and good times I had back in the day in Ohio. Zeps’ true gems lie hidden on the real albums and shows and this band performed them extremely well. These Chicago based fellows are selling out all over on tour and are worth your while next time they roll thru your town. Catch a buzz, close your eyes and rock back in time why don’t ya?!! I did and it felt damn good!
