\"Image\"On October 28, 2009, Noel Gallagher announced that he had quit the band Oasis, citing an inability to continue working with his brother Liam any longer.\u00a0 In the immediate aftermath, rumors swirled that Noel would embark on a solo endeavor.\u00a0 Despite the rumors, it wasn\u2019t until nearly two years later when Noel Gallagher would announce his intentions to release the self-titled Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t take long for Noel Gallagher to establish himself on his own.\u00a0 Long-considered to be the talent behind many of the biggest Oasis hits, it likely comes as no surprise that the success continued with his latest project.<\/p>\n

Fast-forward to October 24, 2012, and Noel Gallagher\u2019s High Flying Birds were in Seattle, WA for the second stop of their United States tour with Snow Patrol.\u00a0 Flanked on-stage by four other musicians, Gallagher took on the lead role quite well.\u00a0 His presence is like his brother Liam\u2019s, in that he has a commanding presence and undeniable charisma.\u00a0 Unlike his brother, he lacked the shallow holier-than-thou attitude that turned many off to Oasis, and Liam\u2019s subsequent group Beady Eye.<\/p>\n

The majority of the crowd wanted nothing more than a night of Oasis songs.\u00a0 Although six Oasis songs made the set, the Seattle crowd was simply relentless in its demand for more tracks like \u201cChampagne Supernova\u201d and \u201cWonderwall.\u201d\u00a0 In lieu of those tracks (another others), Gallagher did a brilliant job pacing the evening with a blend of Oasis and High Flying Birds tracks.\u00a0 In fact, Gallagher bookended the show with the Oasis tracks \u201c(It\u2019s Good) To be Free\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t Look Back in Anger.\u201d\u00a0 (Writer\u2019s Note:\u00a0 Gallagher has since added \u201cWonderwall\u201d to the setlist in other cities)<\/p>\n

\"Image\"Gallagher\u2019s \u201cAKA… What a Life!\u201d was a standout performance of the show.\u00a0 Reminding the audience that nothing beats a solid, adrenaline-packed rock song, Gallagher and company brought an energy and enthusiasm to the audience that laid the groundwork for the second half of the show.<\/p>\n

Perhaps most impressive about Gallagher\u2019s performance was his ability to effortlessly transition from rock anthem to quiet, emotional acoustic tracks, while also demonstrating his ability to stagger a line between the two.\u00a0 The live performances of \u201cIf I Had a Gun,\u201d \u201cHalf the World Away,\u201d and \u201cThe Death of You and Me\u201d were perfect illustrations of this talent, pulling fans in with catchy hooks and a swaggering beat of the complete band, while also exuding the raw, pure emotion that can accompany an acoustic performance.<\/p>\n

It didn\u2019t take long for Gallagher to find himself as a solo artist.\u00a0 At the start of this tour, it was evident that Gallagher was already hitting his stride.\u00a0 His band, the High Flying Birds, compliments him well.\u00a0 Their cohesion, timing and musical performance would make bands who have toured for decades jealous.\u00a0 From the ashes of Oasis, Noel Gallagher\u2019s High Flying Birds has risen, picking up where Oasis left off, but without all the drama.<\/p>\n
