\"\"Often panned for too much talk and not enough playing BB King did an almost about face on his detractors a\u00a0couple weeks back when he brought his show to the House of Blues in Houston. This time around King put up and shut up as he played and sang as if he wanted to prove to the naysayers that he still has the right to hold court as King of the Blues.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Some banter was still in place but much less than I\u2019ve witnessed in recent past. This time around King let his sweetheart guitar Lucille do most of the talking. At 86 years old King proved that he is still capable of delivering his trademark guitar riffs. It almost seemed that on this night he wanted to set the record straight.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As usual for a BB show, the House of Blues was completely sold out by the time his top shelf band took the stage. The band played an extended intro warm up session that really got the crowd revved up before King made his entrance about ten minutes later. By then the band was on the musical mark and rolling to help King guide the crowd through some of the performer\u2019s most popular tunes.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

All of the King signature classics were featured, \u201cThe Thrill is Gone\u201d, \u201cLet the Good Times Roll\u201d, and \u201cEveryday I Have the Blues\u201d to mention a few.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My personal favorite of the evening was \u201cWhen Love Comes to Town\u201d, a song King recorded with U-2 a number of years back.<\/p>\n

It was great to see and hear BB King deliver one of his best shows I\u2019ve witnessed in awhile. He may not be hitting full stride anymore but if you catch him on the right night like this one was you\u2019ll be in for something special.<\/p>\n
