ImageA Wednesday night punk rock concert proved to be a great way to get over the midweek blues for an eager crowd at the Meridian.  American Bang started of the night with a 30 minute set.

Next Donita Sparks and The Stellar Moments took stage and really got the crowd pumped.  I had never heard much of their work, but I could tell there were a lot of hardcore Donita Sparks fans at the Meridian that night.  She was very energetic and seemed to really enjoy interacting with those close to the stage.

Finally, The Donnas brought it home.  The already enthusiastic crowd roared when Brett Anderson took stage.  I thought I was going to get mauled while shooting photos because there were no safety railings for me to stand in front of this night and everyone was so eager to be up front.  It wasn’t a huge crowd, but the energy was awesome.

Although The Donnes are nearing the end of their tour, they rocked hard and gave the Donnaholics in Houston a great show.  They played a lot of stuff from their new album, “Bitchin'”, which I hadn’t had the opportunity to hear yet.  All four girls seemed to have a blast performing “Girl Talk” and that energy spilled over into the crowd.  They closed their set with “5 O’Clock in the Morning” and sent me home with a smile.   I grabbed a tank top on my way out to remember the occasion and will definitely be looking forward to The Donnas coming back to Houston.
