ImageHe’s known as the “King of Bachata” for a reason. Romeo Santos knows how to command an audience — he reigns on stage, making women and men alike swoon to his steamy ballads and suave charisma. The American-born Dominican icon played two sold-out back-to-back shows at Toyota Center June 4th and 5th promoting his latest album, Formula: Vol. 2. For nearly three hours Romeo strutted on stage, seductively swaying his hips, blowing kisses to the audience, and delivering a performance that dripped in romance. A frenetic crowd roared for more.

The Latin heartthrob renounced relationships for the night and commanded that “tonight… all the ladies are single” which prompted an eruption of squeals. Romeo knows just how to romance the ladies — even in a venue as massive as the Toyota Center. He plays to every girl, in every seat, often taking time out during songs to caress her with his words and declarations of love.

ImageThe tightly-packed show consisted of 25 songs with throwback favorites like “Un Beso,” “Obsesion,” and “Noche de Sexo” before finishing off the night with a seductive performance of “Propuesta Indecente.” Romeo initially rose to prominence as frontman of the Bronx-based group Aventura, which gained notoriety for bringing Bachata music to the mainstream. Bachata music fuses traditional delicate guitars and lovelorn lyrics with the swagger of modern day hip hop and R&B.

Romeo’s two Formula albums (Vol.1 and 2) have generated seven No. 1 singles and bilingual collaborations with Carlos Santana, Drake, Lil Wayne, Usher, and Nicki Minaj.
