After making the people of the United States wait for nearly two years for a full tour of the nation, Motörhead was sure not to disappoint. With a solid supporting line-up of Speedealer, Today is the Day and Morbid Angel, the band brought out a show for everyone to enjoy.

Opening the set with “We are Motörhead,” Lemmy and company cranked up the volume and tore through a set of classics.

Despite having their new album, Hammered, released the previous week, the band made few attempts to showcase the songs, performing only “Brave New World” from the album. No one seemed to mind the absence of the new material and found their groove with the classics.

Lemmy and Campbell played like youngsters, posing and enjoying the music and atmosphere of the small club. Normally being a band to play larger venues, audience members on this night were treated to an intimate, yet energetic performance by Motörhead.

For an encore, the band played their most recognizable track, “Ace of Spades,” which has been currently featured on the Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 soundtrack. This was the song most of the young crowd was waiting for and the prize for all the old school metal heads who had a nice stroll down memory lane. Combine that with “Overkill” as a closer and the set ended with a quality bang.

Few bands have accomplished the notoriety or the reputation that Motörhead has without straying from their music. This band is all loud, evil rock n’ roll with no nonsense attached. Definitely an elder the music scene needs to look up to.
