When I drove up to the meridian I saw something I have never seen there before, a line around the building. That pretty much gave me an idea of what the night would be like. A packed house full of female fans screaming at the top of their lungs and throwing clothes on stage or at least that’s what I was hoping for…
Walking on stage to a massive ovation Chris Daughtry took his place on stage while the band began playing he just stood still in his black hood for a few minutes seemly taking everything in before starting his set. After I got my Photos done I watched him for a little while and to say the least he wasn’t as bad as I would have thought him to be. He has a very powerful voice and with his band behind him they blended together well… I think it’s just the whole “American Idol” thing that over exposes these people to where most are sick of seeing and hearing about them. Now I’m not saying that all the people who were contestants on American Idol could have brought out a crowd like this, so that leaves something to say about Daughtry… His music has a unquestionably rock vibe to it , and while some of his songs have a little pop to them he pretty much stays true to his word about his music not being pop. There were a few songs I actually thought were good as far as his song writing goes. And while he does have quite a few songs of the ballad type, he put on a good show and I can’t take that away from the guy just because I’m not a big fan… But there is something to say about Daughtry having one of the biggest and fastest selling albums out right now. His self titled debut “Daughtry” has sold well over a million copies in the U.S. alone. And his first single “Its Not Over” has been at the top of charts for the past few weeks also. But Before all his fame and success he was just that bald dude on American Idol, who did very well in the competition until being cut from going to the final show. This wouldn’t be a first for Chris either before American Idol he tried out for the show Rock Star INXS and didn’t make the cut for the show. And now with all that behind him he seems to have made a good with the time he had on TV, building a huge fan base that have not left him behind simply because he did not win American Idol. As I said before fans were lined up around the building just waiting to see him tonight… Before I left I watched as he did his song “Its Not Over” Chris walked off stage and sang on top of the barricades as fans sang along and filled the club with their applause. Even though I’m not a fan I can still give the guy his due, he had a good show and gave every fan what they wanted. As of now there’s no word on him coming back but I’m sure he’ll be on the summer tour circuit having had a successful show I think it’s safe to say he’ll be back soon… |
